As we have said, any blueprint value begins with engagement. When you have it, you can execute an inspiring go-to market plan. But given the fast-paced, ever-changing and vigorous marketplace, when do you find the time to develop that blueprint, let alone improve the time to expand the plan?

The Internet enables you to sift through thousands of resources to find nuggets of truth to build the foundation for your inspiring plan.

One such resource is the article “Creative Execution” by Eric Beaudan (Ivey Business Journal). Mr. Beaudan defines Creative Execution as

"the ability to execute a strategy so well conceived, understood and embraced by all that it almost guarantees a successful outcome, even against the odds."

Mr. Beaudan cites a worthy historic example of a compelling strategy. While we all recall how Steve Jobs and his team promoting the iPad, displayed their own version of a creative strategy that turned upside down the traditional “how-to” for marketing and selling a new and innovative product.

Mr. Beaudan points to the common ingredients for such a creative strategy:

  • Leaders are inclusive and visible. They voice the purpose often. This supports team’s focus, motivation and perseverance to transform business outcomes into reality.
  • Leaders allow outspoken or open disagreement in framing creative strategy development.
  • Leaders document individual roles and accountability because it supports creative pursuit of strategy in the field. The team players can adapt to any eventuality as a result without the leaders’ authorization.
  • Leaders practice bold and decisive action often for creating impetus as build and when expand a creative strategy.
